« on: September 29, 2014, 08:39:26 AM »
I don't know where they keep coming from but this is #35 in 3 years on our property. Yesterday I got # 34 a male only the 6th one. This makes 6 dogs in the last 2 months time. My coyote rifle is a Tikka T3 223 with Leupold 4-12, this last dog was shot @ 100 yds, yesterdays male dog was a 2oo yd shot.

they almost got my dog last Nov. They chased our cat up to the front porch then Sitka (our dog) got involved the chase proceeded to the north side of the house, I got out of bed and shined my spotlight out the window to see Sitka on the heels of one yote and the second one on her heel about to attack. I hollered for her and the mini wolves beat feet back across the field.I evened the score 2 weeks later I spotlighted the field before bed and spotted eyes under a cedar tree about 80 yards from the house, I've got mom trained to hustle out of bed to hold the light I made the 80 yard shot and put that dog in mini wolf heaven. I don't have any use for coyotes they all ready got 2 of my springer spaniels my daughters cat our rooster and 1 hen and every fawn born here is gone within the week. Oh and my neighbor across the street don't much care about yotes either as they came up on his covered porch and ran off with 2 of his 8 week old golden retreivers.

What area do you live in with that many yotes?  I hear them every night, but I never see them.  To thick and to many black berry bushes.  I think they must run under the black berries or something.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Could be you live in between two or more coyote territory's. The rouges travel alot looking for a place to call home. They normally stay on the borders of other coyotes to keep from getting a butt kicking. My place is in the same situation and we see/shoot quite a few.

I'm ashamed to admit I shot @ 2 and did not hit them, one when I was watching a doe in the pasture she got all birdy looked to the west and then bugged out, coyote comes in her direction, I grabbed my rifle and  ran out on to the deck. I wanted to kill him so bad that I peeked during the shot and he ran off, I was so peeved at my self for not protecting that doe, it bugged me for days not connecting on that mini wolf. That was in july.
