Nisqually delta
« on: October 29, 2014, 05:41:24 PM »
I've hunted ducks and geese in the nisqually delta many times. But now that I've had to sell my boat, was wondering if anyone has ever hiked in?

I myself have never hunted there because i feel its one of those spots that is well known and hit hard.. Ive been told by a few people that its only worth hunting if you have a boat though. This is hear say so i dont really know.

The guys that I know that hunt it, boat in.  It does see a lot of pressure, but with new birds, brings new opportunities.  You might be able to scratch a few out.  Find a buddy with a boat may be the best option.

Says multiple times "All access is by boat"
You definately can't walk in from the freeway side. Walking from the WDFW boat launch would be iffy at best, and you might not be allowed to walk through refuge/private land to get to the WDFW land that is open for hunting on the westside of the creek.

I've hunted it for over 25 yrs now. Maybe more. No boot access at all unfortunately. Used to be via the old Bragget Farm but it was membership only. Now all that land is part of the refuge with nothing going to the sportsman out of it.

sure wish there was some cover to hunt in there.  all the treed and freshwater areas are just inside the deadlines for the most part.

no access unless you have a boat, and you'd have to be suicidal to try and cross the flats on foot.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun
