.243 loads???
« on: September 29, 2014, 05:21:23 PM »
I have now shot 2 boxes of the Federal .243 100 gr soft points through my sons new Remington and have not been happy about the grouping or lack of off of sand bags.  I was just curious as to see what others may have had successful groups with.  I realize each gun can favor a particular round.  I am not set up for loading .243, so store bought would be favorable.  May look at nosler or Hornady loads, possibly 95 gr.  Any recommendations would be appreciated.

My Savage .243 loves the 95 grain SST's or the 80 grain GMX by Hornady.

You might be onto something. I just looked and my 12 yr old shoots 90gr fusions and my 9 yr old shoots 75 grain hornaday ballistic tips. Both group well out of their respective guns.

I will grab a box of each and hit the bench this week and see which one the gun likes.  Thanks for the help.

That may just be the first rifle I have heard of that did not shoot well with the Federal Classic load. Like what others have said,  try the Federal Premium Nosler Partition.

I went shopping out yesterday looking for the fedral 100gr .243 round.
Nothing,  in three separate stores, my savage is pretty choosy.
