elk mountain wall tents
«
on:
September 29, 2014, 07:02:32 PM »
Ok guy and gals. Does anyone on here use or have any experience with this companies wall tents? I realize they are made in china which sucks but I am wondering if they will hold up like the more popular brands. Unfortunately I am on a tight budget and this tents price fits my budget. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

They look like good basic solid tents. I'd buy one.

If they're made in Chiner I would probably make sure they have a good warranty that is backed by a good retailer.

the china thing makes me leery as well, I disdain buying china.
That said I checked out their website and it looks like a good option, I like the features and how it's thought out.
I'd still shell out a bit more cash for a USA made product with a fairly local manufacturing facility if I could.
for a budget I'd look at used too.
edit:
Well I dunno now, I went on CL and used wall tent prices are in the neighborhood of this new tent.
This'll drive prices down.
$800 bucks for a new wall tent with corners, add your own poles. Hard to get too hurt on that deal.

Thanks for the replies. I just cant find any real reviews. The guys selling them are out of nampa I think. For the money they are hard to beat and free shipping to boot. I have been looking for a used one for a bit but nothing has materialize. Just a few CL flakes or people think there 15 yr old tent is worth the same amount as a new one. I guess its not a good thing that no one on here owns one

You might look at Davis Tent. Prices are comparable but the tent from Davis is made of cotton in Denver. I wonder if the polyester canvas would suffer from condensation in the winter? I'm always leary of Chinese stuff because their quality is so spotty. I couldn't find on their website they get their tents from China, though.
I bought a 12 x 14 from Davis with a stove and the price was good.

For a new tent around $800 you just can't beat Davis Tent prices for an American made tent!
If your not in a hurry and can wait for the sport shows to come around at the beginning of the year, you
can pick up a Sportsmans Show special from Davis Tent on a 14x16 water and mildew (Sunforger) treated
canvas tent with the frame angle kit, sod cloth and stove jack for around $800 if you pick it up at one of
the NW Sportsmans shows.

I ordered and got the free sample swath of fabric
I didn't care for it, really thin and fairly stiff. I'd opt for the thicker cotton canvas if using in colder temps IMO
I think it would hold more heat.

The fabric sample turned me off as well, wouldn't trust it in real cold nasty weather, especially whenyou can pick up a american made tent for just a few months more of saving.

ckr,
If you aren't in a hurry there are some good deals to be had on CL for tents, make sure you check the classified adds on the forums too, especially after the season ends.
I own two tents, one from Canvas Cabins and one from Rainier, buy an American made tent and you will own it for a lifetime if you take care of it.

Also, we're 80 days from the sportsman's show. Good deals to be found there

Apparently I can't see the size tent you are looking for but I got mine two years ago in Moscow from the wall tent shop they have a website and offer free shipping I could not be happier with it I ordered the 12 x 14 tent and the angle kit for $800 my brother has a Davis tent and they are very similar wouldn't go wrong with either one I would steer clear of the Chinese tent as they are often times pretty cheap and don't last as long as they should
