Nitro grappler or cooper sst tires?
« on: October 01, 2014, 07:47:31 AM »
Going to put one of these on my 06 lifted duramax, which of the two? Opinions wanted, thanks. 35x12.5x20 discount has the coopers for 319 a tire, nitro is 40 more.

Can't comment on the Nitto's but I do know the Coopers are quite a bit noisier than Toyo's. I have heard many times of loggers trying the Coopers for the price savings and  returning them for Toyo's.

they want a fortune at les Shwab for the toyo's, I have the nitto mud grappler now and nothing is more noisy than those!  My friend also logs and loves those toyo's, but around 440 a tire!😳

Nitto and Toyo are made by the same company. Nitto's are a great, underrated tire if you ask me.

toyos are the way to go i love those tires, great in mud or ice, quite on the street, dont wear out to fast, had 37s on my 250 powerstroke 4 door long bed for a year and still had 75% tread, kinda pricey though... nittos are pretty noisy but are a great tire, same as the toyo but just noisy

the coopers i would not buy, had them on my toyota and now my dad has them on his, wear horribly and cup really bad, not that great in snow or ice, pack full of mud if it gets sticky, very noisy and horrible ride when worn in a little

maybe look at the bfg km2 good price and a great tire, rides smooth and they arent as heavy as the toyo or cooper

It sounds like you guys don't cooper, toyo's are just too damn expensive. Might have to go with nitto.

They are expensive for a reason, they last.

20" rims make for an expensive tire no matter what.

I had KM2's on my 2012 Tacoma I liked them but never could get them balanced properly and they were noisier then my 35 12.50 20 Toyo's on my 2500 Cummins. I just checked out the LT325/60R20 KM2 on Tire rack $507.00 ea!!!!!!!!!!  :yike:

I've never seen good results from Toyo Open Country Mud Terrain tires on the bigger trucks. Simple human nature shows that people don't maintain their tires/vehicles as they should. On those heavier trucks, when those tires aren't rotated like mad, they cup really bad. I've seen it dozens of times. Not nearly as bad on the half ton trucks.
Again, just my .02 seeing these trucks day in and day out for the last I forgot how many years.

I run those on some of our fleet trucks,  weve been pretty happy with them.  They don't look half bad either

I'm on my second set and never had any issues at all.  Both trucks were 2500 cummins with 35" tires.
I do however rotate them at every oil change, (5000 mile)
