Can't comment on the Nitto's but I do know the Coopers are quite a bit noisier than Toyo's. I have heard many times of loggers trying the Coopers for the price savings and returning them for Toyo's.
Nitto and Toyo are made by the same company. Nitto's are a great, underrated tire if you ask me.
It sounds like you guys don't cooper, toyo's are just too damn expensive. Might have to go with nitto.
toyos are the way to go i love those tires, great in mud or ice, quite on the street, dont wear out to fast, had 37s on my 250 powerstroke 4 door long bed for a year and still had 75% tread, kinda pricey though... nittos are pretty noisy but are a great tire, same as the toyo but just noisythe coopers i would not buy, had them on my toyota and now my dad has them on his, wear horribly and cup really bad, not that great in snow or ice, pack full of mud if it gets sticky, very noisy and horrible ride when worn in a littlemaybe look at the bfg km2 good price and a great tire, rides smooth and they arent as heavy as the toyo or cooper
Just talked with schwab, what do you guys know about the open country AT2?
I've never seen good results from Toyo Open Country Mud Terrain tires on the bigger trucks. Simple human nature shows that people don't maintain their tires/vehicles as they should. On those heavier trucks, when those tires aren't rotated like mad, they cup really bad. I've seen it dozens of times. Not nearly as bad on the half ton trucks.Again, just my .02 seeing these trucks day in and day out for the last I forgot how many years.

Both trucks were 2500 cummins with 35" tires. I do however rotate them at every oil change, (5000 mile)
As mentioned, the biggest issue with the Toyo MT's is the being diligent on rotates. The other issue is running the proper pressure. I don't care what you are hauling, you don't need 65PSI in them. Period. They will round out so damn fast. 3/4 ton rig should be running upper 40's.

I've heard nothing but good about them so far. Got a few friends that run them. Here 's a link to Toyo's tire selection and the different tire ratings.http://toyotires.com/tires/suv-light-truck-tires
I have the nitto's on my 95 dodge 2500 12v they've been great. Not sure the mileage but they're holding up very well. They don't sidewall flex with a heavy camper on either. My mileage did go down when I switched from a tall skinny tire to the bigger Nitto, from 20-21 to 17-18 MPG. I need to find a set of new rims and snow tires. very little road noise, I've had some tires that even drown out my loud azzed truck - makes for a long day road tripping. The nitto's are roughly 32x12x17 and almost rub in the wheel wells. I need stiffer front springs with the big bumper and winch hanging off the front They really, really suck in the snow though FYI even siped and brand new.
3rd set on 3 different vehicles and have not had any issues. I've wanted to try the nitro mud grapplers but I keep going back to the stt's.
I have the Nitto Terra Grapplers (LT295/70R18) on my Tundra. Basically a 35x12x18 and they work great. Nice and quiet and work great in mud, snow, and rain. They don't fair to well on ice though. Got them for well under a $1000 and got Discount Tires to price match an ad I brought in. I ran Mickey Thompson ATZs before that and really liked that tire.
I don't understand the affinity there is for Schwab. Shop around, there are a lot better prices out there if you compare apples to apples. Service at most places is comparable too. Costco, Walmart, Sears, Discount, and even smaller shops will beet the tar out of Schwab's prices.I have 35x12.5x17 STT's on my Powerstroke. I like the traction and road noise is fine for a mud tire. I do think the BFG's I have run in the past seemed to last longer though, with great traction. There were no BFG Mud Terrains available the last time I needed tires for the truck, so went STT. All the sets of BFG's I have run have made 70K miles (4 sets on two rigs) and still had usable tread on them. Again, 5k mile rotation. I will go back to BFG's on the Stroke the next time I need tires.
