Today was the first day I have had a cance to read your story. It was great as usual, I too look forward to reading your stories. That was an awsome moose, congrats. Good luck on the rest of your hunting season.

Thank you, all! I've had a great hunting season so far... didn't fill my antlerless elk tag, but was there to share the excitement with my mother filling her tag, and called in and saw over 30 bulls. It was a lot of fun!

Jeff and I boated up lake Chelan and then hiked into the hills to meet the fog and rain...  :chuckle: We had maybe 20 foot visibility on average the entire trip and stayed in a soggy state for 5 days before calling it, but we still had a great time!

Now, on to Idaho! I can only hope I get lucky enough to experience some more truly wondrous adventures and see some beautiful scenery. See you all in a few weeks!

Great story, awesome pictures!  You need to blow up and frame the one with your bull in the swamp area, that is an amazing picture.  I just spent last weekend hunting for moose with my 14 year old niece and brother in the Mt. Spokane South Area.  She drew the youth cow hunt for that area and it was a blast hunting up there with the young lady.  She made a great steep uphill 80 yard shot on a calf with her dad Sunday after passing on a cow Saturday that she rightfully thought was covered by too much brush at 100 yards.  I am going to show her your write up and pictures, I think she will be impressed by you, your experience and pictures. Thanks for sharing.

What were you hunting up off lake Chelan?  :dunno:

Beautiful, well-deserved bull.  Congrats Hirshey

General Deer season... getting away from the crowds. We boated up then hiked 6.5 miles into the wilderness.

Four hunters and four bucks down... had an old hunting partner break our deal not to take folks in there/not go without me (seeing as it was my hunt I introduced to them) and they ended up putting their spike camp less than 0.2 miles from our spike... and hunting the same drainage I was hunting, so I don't want to publicly post photos this season and encourage their continued follies in my little piece of heaven. Pretty sad, actually... because I look forward to sharing my stories and photos every year. They are on the forum, though, so I have to refrain. :(

The short of it is we harvested bucks on day 1, 3 (mine), 5, and had one guy harvest a last day buck after passing up on lots of great animals. Got wolves to howl back with just my voice howl from across drainage in a snow storm, and they howled two nights of the trip (killed a critter on a ridgeline right above our camp, and devoured one of our boned out carcasses in a single night). No elk seen, but lots of sheds picked up and glassed. Had 70 degree weather degrade to -8 over the 10 day trip. Lots of fun... wish I could share photos.  :sry:

Sorry to hear that Hirshey,,, sad really... Hope you can find a way to not let it "change" (for lack of better words) the way you do things ... So many of us love to hear your stories and appreciate all you contribute ... It would be a shame to lose you being you ... I Think you are in a class of your own and should not change for anything ...

Well that sucks Hershey. No photos without any backgrounds behind you? I always liked seeing the pics from this hunt each year but completely understand. Congrats on another great year!

First let me say congrats, and second - I am sorry to hear about this situation, Hirshey.  Have had something similar happen to me as well on a piece of private land I had permission to hunt.  One of the worst breaches of trust there is for the hunting community and it only gets worse as his friends bring in their friends, etc.   :bdid:
