Vortex Viper hd 65mm spotter
« on: October 07, 2014, 01:39:20 PM »
Any experience with this glass? Thoughts? I know there are lighter options/sizes for backpacking, but that is not all the hunting that I do, i can afford to have this size scope in my pack.. For the price point I am leaning toward this as a viable option for an all around spotter. Thanks!!!

FWIW I've looked through Vortex Viper binoculars and I wasn't impressed. IDK how the same model spotter compares to the binocular.

Great glass for the money.  I think you won't be disappointed.  And I use zeiss, swarovski, and use a Nikon ed50.

Bought it last year. Hate the focus. Image quality is good. It was worth the money compared to other high end manufacturers pricing.

Can you expand on this (the focus)? Both the Viper and Razor spotters have the dual focus knobs.  Thanks!!

The more I ask around the more i'm actually leaning towards the Razor. I guess buy/cry once and not always want something else? hmmm, need to make a decision before my deer hunt..

Nikon ed50.

That little Nikon ed50 is one impressive little spotter.  I've always been impressed with its glass quality.  If anyone is ever looking for a small, easily packable spotter with great glass quality, that little ed50 would be my first recommendation.

We can rent you out a razor and if you think its worth the extra money we'll credit your rental towards a new spotter. If you don't like it and think you want a viper we can work out a deal to credit your rental fee towards a viper as well
Let me know if we can help you out and good luck on your hunt!

Thank you for the response! What are your thoughts on the two? Differences? Preference? Feel free to pm me if you would like. I will be pairing this spotter with Swaro 10x42 slc's. Thanks again!
