I have the Waring pro mg100 it's only $80 these day's on amazon a lot less than i paid about 9 years ago it has done several thousand pounds of meat. I broke two kitchenaid meat grinder attachments before i got this one.I would buy a bigger one if were in the market for one today but i can't say i am dissatisfied or that it's not a good product it is still going strong.

I have the Cabelas 3/4 HP grinder. I got really lucky and found it it in the Bargain Cave for $280 a few years ago new with a damaged package. I love it and appreciate that it grinds quickly and has solid metal parts. No plastic gears. When doing a whole elk it's nice that you can grind quickly and without having to stop and open it up to clear out clogged silver seam every other minute.

What sucks is that the cost of these has kept going up over the past few years and idk whether I would pony up the big bucks for one if I had to buy one at retail today. I would probably hound Craigslist in search of a used one at a good discount. It takes me two days to do an elk by myself and even though I already own my own grinder and vacuum sealer, I'm still tempted to pay a butcher as I make more money than using two days vacation costs me if I paid the butcher to do it. Think about that before shelling out $400 for a high end grinder.

I have the Cabela's 3/4 horse and can't complain.

I just recently wore out the Waring Pro model after only a year and a half.  Probably only ground 150 lbs or less.  It could maybe grind a pound per minute.  That thing did NOT like to grind pork.  My wife and I decided to go big with a replacement:

http://www.meatprocessingproducts.com/08-2201-w.html

This thing grinds as fast as I can feed it.  A little spendy, but you get what you pay for.

I bought a turbo force 3 years ago from amazon.com and I love it.  Processed 2 deer and 4 elk with no problems at all.  They have the best warranty in the business, 3 years full replacement.  I called them because one of my parts had a small defect and they sent me an entire replacement pack for all the accessories.  http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0012KJBR0?pc_redir=1412471756&robot_redir=1

Got the Cabelas 3/4 and we have done 18 elk and 12 deer with it over the last 6 years and it hasn't slowed down a bit.  If it ever goes up in smoke I am going back to same model.  It gets used a ton because we double grind all off our burger and sausage and use it to stuff our sausage casings.

Take a look at the Tasin TS-108:

http://www.onestopjerkyshop.com/tasin-ts-108-electric-meat-grinder-1/

It looks like it should be cheap, but I've used it for probably 10 deer so far without a hiccup.  Grinds fast and takes whatever you can get in it.  The only downside is that it is loud as h*ll.  I bought the cabelas burger patty attachment and pre-patty all of my burgers.  I grind all of my burgers twice.

For the money, I doubt you'll find anything more powerful.

I bought mine used and paid less...but you won't find a better grinder for the money.  I have done easily 1000 lbs of meat and this year alone have done two deer and an elk.  It will eat it faster than you can feed it.

Well, Hobart...but hard to find and a little pricy. I have a Hobart table top #32 for my business. Biro and Butcher Boy also make commercial grinders.  Shop Craigslist and Ebay (although freight).

As for Cabella, I looked hard at the #32 and the #44.  I know a guy who grinds his own burger for his burger restaurant. He moves quite a bit and has no complaints about his #44.  Youtube has lots of Cabella grinder stuff.

However, I would recommend a Hobart #22 over any Cabella (IMHO), if money's an issue.

Hobart's made in Germany....Cabella in China....just sayin'

Don't worry about 3 phase because you can run it on a converter. I do.

Why would you even want one. I take my meat to my local meat market buddy and for a six pack I use his and don't have to spend the rest of the day cleaning it. But I only do several animals a year.

I have the Cabelas 1 hp grinder. Awesome tool! Practically rips meat out of your hand. I've had it for about 10 years and the only problem I had was when by my own fault I broke the switch. I called them up to ask how to get a new switch and they told me to just return the whole machine and they sent me a new one! Tough to beat that.

Cabelas 1 hp as well. It was on sale 4 or 5 years ago and we got it for $380. I haven't used it nearly as much as I'd like, but it's ground up a few deer and at least one elk. I love it. It takes the meat as fast as I can drop it in and never slows down and never jams.

It's gotten to the point where there's hardly anywhere to take wild game for processing anymore. And besides that, I like knowing the meat I put in my freezer is from my deer and not somebody else's gut shot deer.

The only thing I regret is not buying it sooner.

Just did 10lbs of grind on Cabelas 1hp.  Took 8 minutes and two was spent changing plates.  Worth the 400 with free pedal a couple weeks ago.

I got a European made hand grinder over 10 years ago. someone got me an electric grinder, and I used it a few years, replaced a part or two on it, and it finally quit. I went back to my hand grinder, which is well made and will probably last me a lifetime. It requires a little more effort than the electric, but not more time, and I find it will go through tough shank meat that would bind up my electric.  (but maybe wouldnt an bigger stronger electric)

I have the cabelas 1hp grinder.  Three deer, one elk.  I grind it all except blackstrap and tenderloins.  That thing will make sawdust out of 2x4's...I bought the foot pedal, and I swear it's the best combo out there.  Can't slow it down.

I've had an old very heavy grinder given to me unknown name that works better than any cabelas grinder made.  I've been butchering more the last couple years so found a monster holeymatic mixer grinder 180 for 600 bucks.  This behemoth weighs 825 pounds, 10 hp, 3 phase and grinds 120 pounds a minute. It blows me away how fast it. Will grind.  I burgered a whole cow and got 550 pounds of burger in 5 minutes.  I also got a tabletop hobart for less than 50 pounds of meat.  You just can't beat these commercial grinders.  They are really made to grind meat.  If a grinder needs a stuffing stick to force the meat into it, you need a different grinder unless you only do one deer a year.  If you grind over 1,000 pounds of meat a year you should stick with the commercial grinders, hobart, butcher boy, holeymatic.  You can find them on craigslist for much less than new.  My tabletop hobart is 5 hp and I paid 200 bucks used.  If it says hand crank, don't even read the ad.

I just bought my dad the cabelas 3/4 for Christmas.   For those that have it how well does it work at sausage stuffing?  Or should I buy a stuffer also?

I have tye 3/4 and only made sausage with it once. Not because I didn't like the machine--I just didn't like the economics. Sausage is cheap enough to buy, especially with the cost of the pork shoulder necessary to buy and add to it. Not to mentionall the work involved.

I think it did a decent job but rather than going out and buying him a stuffer, I think the foot pedal would be really handy as it would be nice to control it on and off as you feed, twist, etc. Its a two person job using hte on off switch but could possibly be done solo with that pedal. Not sure how much it costs.

The foot pedal made everything better, and I think they are on sale right now for about 35 bucks...I cannot imagine using my grinder without the pedal now.  Sausage stuffing is still easier with a stuffer.  Its not impossible with the grinder, but its faster and easier with the stuffer.  I did all my sausage with the grinder for a couple years, then finally pulled the trigger on the stuffer and wondered why I waited so long.

Can't you order it online?

That is a great price. I got the same one a few years ago on sale for $399 and I haven't seen them down anywhere near that price since then. I think the lowest I've seen the 1 hp is $479.

Awesome grinder, you'll love it.

I broke two kitchenaid meat grinder attachments before i got this one.I would buy a bigger one if were in the market for one today but i can't say i am dissatisfied or that it's not a good product it is still going strong.

:bash: 7k or meat in nine years with that toy. :chuckle: that works out to be about 800lbs
plus or minus, I don't think so!

Finally got through, was on hold for approx 2-3 hrs today off and on when I had a chance. Price is going back up. Was $509 last I checked but finally got through and got the $419 price.
Call the exclusive order number if you have it on the back of your card for faster service. I hadn't noticed that before 1-800-555-6224

:bash:I wouldn't wait for God on hold for 2-3 hours. :twocents:

Mine has eaily ground 1, 000 pounds and shows nonsigns ofnslowing.  It probably does 7 pounds a minute.   :dunno:

Shy pound every 7.5 seconds I am impressed Bean Counter...How much meat does that hopper hold? And you have to use a plunger to shove the meat down it's throat.

you might want to reread my post I said several as in like 3k not seven and that works out to less than 1 pound of meat a day.that machine has done easily that if not more and there is certainly something to be said about not rushing or abusing your equipment.

I put my new Weston #22 to it's first real test this last weekend.  Bottom line, I ground 15 lbs of venison and 18 lbs of pork through an 1/8" plate in 4 minutes.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice
