I can never sleep well before opening day.  Not so much from the excitement, but because I'm always certain I've forgotten something.  And usually I'm right :bash:

One year I worked on a thorough list that had every single possible item written down.  Finally I was going to get a good night sleep.  But I got busy at work and asked my mother to pack the more simple things to help out.  I drive eighteen hours to get where I am going.  Set up the tent and start unpacking.  Find out my mother packed one left Browning Magnum boot and one left Hi-Tech light hiker. :yike:  After a week of hunting in my dress shoes my feet were trashed!!  But at least she packed a dozen pairs of underwear for a six day hunt :chuckle:
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

As long as I leave home with a tag, gun, and ammo worst case scenario I can probably find what I need within an hour drive. But thanks to you I'm going to double check to be sure I have a matching pair of boots beforehand!

 :chuckle:

You rifle hunters have it rough.  I remember gutting deer with a broadhead tipped arrow more than once.  Not sure bullets will work so well ;)

First year with a wall tent, my youngest has been packing stuff and setting it in the garage for weeks now.  He's all jacked up ready to go get his first deer, a week in the woods with my youngest.     I can't wait.

Memories........good , bad, and otherwise, its all hunting season.   Visit past memories and dream of the future ones.
Even at 60, a guy can meet new people in the woods and become friends......even if they hale from ww. Good luck and enjoy.

Going through gear right now and this is the first regular season opener where I'm already tagged out. (High Buck) FREAKY! Still excited to hit the honey hole with the boy though.
