I am a hunter with a terrible success rate here in WA. I will be hunting a large clear-cut Weyerhaeuser property out near Aberdeen and have setup a tree stand about 400 yards back in the woods along a game trail. Game cam has shown a couple deer but mostly Elk. I am having cold feet due to the lack of pictures on the cam but am slightly optimistic that road hunters will change the patterns a bit. I planned on trying to cut them off on the way back to their beds around 6am close to some roads, and moving to the tree stand in the afternoon with a few apples. I was wondering if anyone had advice on tree stand locations in relation to large clear-cuts that may or may not have road hunter traffic.
