GMU 460
« on: October 11, 2014, 10:29:21 AM »
New to the forum, as in signed on yesterday!

I am pondering GMU 460 to the east. I know around North Bend (atleast to the north of it) is a lot of private land with a ton of signs stating that. My question is, what would be a good source of info to figure out Deer/Elk land open to Modern east of NB? Not looking for spots or anything, just trying to figure out where can I shoot an animal without paying for a private permit.

And btw, the WDFW "Go Hunt" mapping is not being very informative. Looking for other sources.

I live up in Carnation area.  There is some DNR land up here.  You need a discovery pass for access.  East of North Bend is some US FS land.  Try there websites for maps.  Good luck.  Its tuff out here trying to find places that are not private

Thanks for the info dawgfan.

I have been trying to locate maps on the internet that have markings. The GoHunt feature on the WDFW site basically states that almost all of 460 is open, with a few spots close to population closed. This leads me to think maybe that map sucks, or a lot of it is actually open. Forest Service site is kinda not helping much. Google is a lottttt of sifting...

Thanks again

I am currently looking into the snoqualmie area after having a tough but uneventful hunting experience on the east side. Trying to find the closest place to ellensburg I can hunt.
My freezer is full of stories and memories!....said no hunter ever.

For the FS maps it is usually best to go to the ranger stations for that district and get the maps there. Then while you are there talk with the rangers or volunteers there about huntable areas. Most of times you will get alot good info areas with good deer and elk populations.
For determining what is private and public on state land I usually use the county auditor maps to determine what is private and what is DNR, then I go scout it to see if it is open. I have also used onXmaps on a buddies GPS before and that is really nice for pointing out Private and public land. http://www.onxmaps.com/
