ATA is a better test standard than IBO I believe.  IBO has no draw lenght standard they can shoot 32 inch draw for there testing.

  Did you mean AMO? IBO is 30" 70Lbs at 5 grains per pound. AMO is 6 grains per pound.

Did AMO change something?  Used to be 60#draw 540 grain arrow at 30".  So it is actually 9 grains.

So have you shot the new bows yet D-Rock? Not sure if you saw my post above but I shot a couple last night.  Being relatively new to the archery world myself, I'd like to hear from others about the new bows who have been shooting for a while.  Overall, I like em.

I like Hoyts, but won't be getting one anytime soon - just picked up a like new Bowtech RPM 360. Super fast and not at all like a typical speed bow. Am impressed with it.

"Yes" true and "No" true!  IBO among bow manufacturers started off as an unofficial standard.  While the 3% variation probably held true even back then it was an apples to apples comparison just like ATA is.  But bow companies realized that speed sold...In a BIG way!!!  And so the "standard" word was left out and was replaced with "speed".  While some companies attempted to maintain credibility and integrity, others went beyond the standard and started saying "IBO Speed" using for their own guideline IBO's tournament rule allowances.  And when PSE and the original Bowtech started dominating speed bow figures many other companies started to follow suit fudging the "unofficial standards" to achieve a slight advantage over the next guy.

The ATA began to recognize that the standard needed to become an "Official Apple to Apple Standard" as the end consumer could no longer make an educated decision based on IBO.  So the "unofficial" IBO standard became the "official" ATA standard.  It was a very small change to most companies that held on to a mostly honest system.  But a few that had seen the rocket of sales based on the misguided interpretation of IBO the official standard was, and probably is, a considerable gap in figures.

So my interpretation of ATA-vs-IBO is, "They are the same...unless they aren't.  They should be...but they're not always"

Shot both the new carbon and nitrum 30" models this evening.  I really do like the nitrum riser a lot but the 30" ata was way to short for my liking.

I just picked up an 80lb 2014 Carbon Spyder Turbo. I'm in love. Got her all dialed in tonight. Set at 29" draw and maxed out on draw weight (84 lbs I think) She pushes my 475 grain FMJ 340's at 302FPS!!!

Was at Skookum archery this morning talking with Doug and the UPS pulled up with his shipment of the new bows.  Had to resist the urge to shoot one.  My 2011 carbon matrix still has lots of mileage left in her.

People are WAAAAAAAY to tied up in fps and KE...there isnt a bow produced that wouldnt kill any biggame in North America

  I have shot a bow for over 35 yrs now and never owned a Hoyt bow .. I seriously can not tell you why . My buddies all shot Hoyts when we were growing up and I think I was shooting a Bear Recurve
