My buddy Kyle got it done again this weekend.
« on: October 14, 2014, 06:14:19 PM »
My buddy has been hunting with me for the last several years. I think 2007 or 08 was the 1st year his boy Kyle hunted with us. He's hunted with us 5 seasons now, missed a few here and there but he's killed a deer 4 out of 5 seasons. Last year he killed his biggest buck to date, then Sunday night he topped that one with a nice 3x4 mule deer buck. He made a great shot with his new full sized rifle  and a couple hours later in the pitch black his buck was in the truck. The crazy part is this buck ran 500 yards or so after the shot and when we dressed him out the heart was literally in 2 pieces. The 150 grain Barnes bullet was found intact behind the skin on the off side shoulder. Kyles little 10 year old brother Austin hunted with us for the 1st time this year and he worked really hard but we didn't seal the deal. This weekend was pretty much focused on the kids. Next weekend I plan to try and do a little hunting for myself. It was a great weekend.
Here's a couple pictures.

Kyles buck.

Austin doing some glassing.

We had 2 shooter bucks bedded here on the wrong side of the fence. We waited a long time for them to get up and when they did they walked right to Austin. It didn't play out the way it was supposed to and no deer were harmed. LOL.

My 7 year old daughter helping us out.

Was a great weekend with tons of laughs and lots of great memories made.

It's awesome to see you are teaching your children how to be outdoorsman and woman. Can't wait til my 3 year little girl is old enough to go.

Congrats Kyle and solid work Josh for getting the kids out in the field.  It is a ton of work and can be a nightmare sometimes but in the end it is always worth it.
