Blacktail success thread
« on: October 15, 2014, 12:09:10 PM »
I'm thinking this would be a cool thread. Post pictures of blacktail bucks and a short description of how it was killed. Details like what kind of terrain, time, weather, etc. whatever you can remember. This would be very awesome for educating all of us blacktail hunters. I'm especially hoping turner89, sundance, other blacktail 'pros' will chime in. They don't have to be big bucks!

Past years are OK you say?  Cool, I'd better get my best one up before everyone else has a chance to post bigger ones. ;)

Klickitat area in 1999.  Turned out to be my "magical" hunting season where I scored a huge muley and a spike elk (in Wyoming), and this blacktail in the space of 12 days.

Do you just still hunt through the timber extra slow?

My wife should be showing one off today but she let it slip threw here fingers.. the last couple days have been awesome for blacktail hunting ..this morning we got into one of my favorite spot ..Saw one doe at daylight and then we moved up along the timber where we could stay dry ..as we were coming up on a bench I got to the top where I could look down and there he stood about 60 yrds below me ..dandy big bodied 3 pt ...I get her to sit on her butt and try to point him out in the ferns and she can not spot him  :bash: finally he steps forward and she says she sees him ...well when he took that step he was gone ..O well ..that's more fuel to get back at it tomorrow ...plus a friend of mine missed a huge buck last night ...3x  :o :chuckle:  I ask him who taught him to shoot ...he hung up on me ....Lmao

I'll play
shot lots of blacktails
mostly spikes or 2 pts
heres my best "local" hood canal buck

bumped him out of his bed in a heavily hunted section of state land
sad
he lived in an area you'd never expect ,as I had seen a spike the night before and was after that
