Smart bucks! Now Dead. PIC'S
« on: December 14, 2008, 01:07:39 PM »
I have been after this buck for two years. I have 4 trail camera's out trying to get some what of a pattern on him, I've set up ground blinds, tree stands, I've hiked around, I've, I've, I've,,,,,, not killed him YET.... Not giving up though. I killed a nice cougar out of my blind waiting for this buck this year though so I'm not complaining.

2-7-09 Found this buck DEAD >:( >:( :'( :'(. We were out Hunting & looking for cougar sign when we stumbled across the buck :bash:. Another cougar has been spotted in the area and I'm guessing its responsible. Now the cougar must die :guns: :hunter: :mgun:  ..........

He should be a really great buck next year...great pics.  Congrats on the cougar too - pretty cool to take a cat from a ground blind.

You're right Charlie - he replaced that nice front fork with a crab claw.  It will be interesting to see pics of him next year.  You might try planting a high-protein food plot right there where your blind is or do some supplemental feeding in the area.

Are you baiting the area?  If you are and he is coming in after dark, try rattling about and hour before dark.  Sometimes this will make them come in a little earlier.  Good luck...

I have some pic's of the cat in the Gallery but I'll try to post some here to. Yes he got smaller from last year I hope he's better next year. I have put some apples and an apple block in front of the camera to keep them around but I like the food plot idea. I'll try the rattling idea next year. thanks for all your input, you guy's are awesome. P.s. the cat hunt is all on film and will be on our next DVD.

I wasn't in the blind that day because I was home helping my friend, (with me in the cougar pic) get his bear ready to take to Johnson's smoke house. I pulled the card later that day and about cried.... Sat there everyday after that, killed the cat but never saw the buck in the day again. here is a pic of the bear, Also on film and to be on our next DVD. He shot him at 11 yards with his 30-06.

Looks like you have your ground blind in the right place. It always seems to be the wrong time. Hopefully you will get a crack at him one of these years!

Great pics!!!! Is that a 30 yard shot from your blind to where the buck was standing? I agree with the food plot, that should bring them in.
