We ALL know there is a million deer in Vail Tree Farm. Well maybe not quite... LOL But let's see the ones that you have taken there since the Permit System started last year.

I have let 3 button nubs live but the numbers compared to last year are horrible. I have hunted it 7 times so far since modern has started and its honestly piss poor. I have covered the whole farm and hav'nt seen much. I know of a few buck that have been whacked but they are all small. Minus one. Not my story so we wont cover it. Im sure alot of it is weather related. The fireweed and grass is still 5 foot tall in the cuts. Couldn't see em if you tried. Somethings gotta give soon. Not even any mushrooms to speak of.  :bash:

Ive never had much luck for blacktails until late rifle season.  Or muzzleloader has a good portion of the deer rut.  Save gas and only hunt as close to the rut as you can.  Entirely different ballgame.

100 % agree with Crunchy....don't waste your time hunting the first week-week and 1/2 of regular season.  i have that permit and have only been out once verifying what i already know--the last week of october and the few days of late season in november is the best.   my hunting partner shot his best buck last year in vail on october 29th and i saw the best buck i've ever seen in vail shot at and missed twice by my other buddy's 10 year old son on the second to the last day of the regular season and the 2nd day of late season...a monster 4 pt with eyeguards chasing does both days at daybreak...missed it both times at about 75 yards...deer would have made b&c book easy and i am pretty sure he is still there...hopefully in a week or so i can show you a pic of him..
