A fair number of whitetails are rutting now, but not all of them. Been seeing bucks chasing does and with does for a couple days now.

I have a bad feeling that the peak of the rut was late last week into last weekend. There was alot of activity in those 4 or 5 days down here in the south sound. Seems like things have quieted down the last few days. Anyone else noticing that? Wondering if the colder weather that hit a week or so ago triggered it a little early?

That's normal for blacktails around here, in my experience. The rut is pretty much done by the 13th or 14th.

Videotaped 2 nice bucks chasing a doe last Saturday. I saw 18 deer yesterday and 3 spike/fork horn bucks. Two kids and a lady shot all 3 as they worked does. One was shot at 7:30 one at 2:00 and one at 3:30. This morning we saw a nice buck cruising the jackfirs, went back tonight and saw another buck in the same area. The rut may be winding down but is still on.

Cold weather always seems to get the job done in late buck, it seems most of the whitetails are in full rut now, hunting is excellent.

I'm just north of Spokane. Its tough to say out here, I've seen one buck with a real thick neck with some does last night. However, I haven't seen any bucks all day today and lots of does with their yearlings/fawns.

I walked to the patch of woods near my house late this afternoon and saw a buck sticking to a doe.  It was a little dark and I didn't have binoculars but it looked like a good 3-point. I'm going to go take another look tomorrow with binocs and a camera.  It was about 50 yards from where I shot my buck last year.

No rubs, no scrapes and no chasing. However the does have dropped the fawns and the bucks are responding well to grunts and rattles

Whitetail bucks chasing in the NE.  Killed a 2.5 year old while he was checking scrapes this afternoon.  He was rutted up.
