Whidbey Island buck down
« on: October 23, 2014, 12:18:08 PM »
A buddy of mine got a picture of this buck the day of opening modern as he was boarding a plane for vacation with his wife to Maine. It instantly threw him into shakes and sweats seeing as he never misses hunting season, they had been planning this trip but he told his wife "just pick the week and ill put in my vacation request". Wrong choice!! She chose hunting week lol. He came back finally and headed to the island yesterday (he and his family owns property there) he got off the boat drove straight there and sat in his spot. No more than an hr later the buck showed up crossed the fence onto the property and got within shooting range. 20gauge slug did its job! This is his biggest blacktail buck to date and hes shot quit a few.

Im thoroughly jealous I missed out on this trip. I just had my second daughter on 10/20 so I am going to miss the rest of this rifle season, I will however make it over there the late hunt and see what I can get!

Yea its a dandy for the island! I am jealous i guess theres another similar buck around slightly smaller. We'll see if i can put a tag on him in the late hunt. However i am good with anything! Gotta restock my freezer! :-)

Congratulations!  I wonder if the one you got is related to this guy who currently resides in Anacortes?
