Yacolt Burn GMU 758

Hey i have hunted this area for about 2 years scouted and have yet to take a buck out of the 658. My cousin harvested opening morning with a spike that was almost a two point. But i haven't really seen much. Just wanted to know if any one else is having the same issue

578 is West Klick.
To answer the original poster's question, I haven't spent much time in the Burn area, but I know there's bucks around. Just got to get out and find them. I've seen more bulls in there than bucks, but that's not saying much.

The burn is a road hunting mecca. However you can only see about 5% of the country from the cab of your truck.get down into some heavy timber near a clear cut and sit with the wind in you favor. Alot of guys will be pushing through and that keeps deer moving. Im sure I'll make it in there before the end of the season. Good luck!

I was up there last weekend. There are plenty of deer there you just need to put in some time walking and watching.

Yes sorry Its 568 Washougal unit. And yesterday day around 300 with the wind howling and pissing down rain i got my first buck. I had been sitting for the morning as normal but had only seen a doe on the way in. About 12 my cousin who had got a spike out of the same unit decided to go beat some brush. We went and picked up our trail cam and found it had no pictures on it it had set for a week and nothing. So we just started following sign. For 3 hours in the rain and extreme wind we hiked through the forest. We just went down a really steep ravine and seen scat all over. We went further down. Seen some fresh rubs and i found a nice year old forken horn shed. On our way back up i spot a deer on our left had side. He looks at me and i know hes a buck! But he takes off and stops just in a little meadow about 40 yards from me and stops again unsure of what i am. With the wind and the rain he had ni clue i was coming up on him before i seen him. Made the shot and down he went.

Congrats.

Yes thanks guys. Yeah it was a little messy gutting him that was an exit wound. My new .308 savage worked flawless with a nikon 3 x 9.
