x-bolt dura-touch stock turning green
« on: October 23, 2014, 09:17:34 PM »
As the title says, my wife's stock is starting to turn green. You can see it more in certain lighting and the pic doesn't show how bad it really looks. I use Hoppes #9 for regular cleanings and have only used copper remover on it once and am pretty good about not getting it everywhere. It's mostly just on one side, so maybe it's from wear? Anyone know what might be the culprit?

Wierd. I like my gun but I hunt heavy brush areas and the dura touch coating scratches off really easy on mine. Not impressed with the quality of the dura touch coating. Hogue is much better in my opinion but heavier would be the downside.

Maybe a reaction to the sweat and oils from your skin?

It kinda looks like it is concentrated in the area that you would be holding it when carrying it maybe?

It might be from carrying it. I've only taken it out once (killed a buck)  but I don't use a sling. I just can't imagine it reacting that bad to as little contact as I've had with it, but it was probably made in China like everything else nowadays, so maybe lol. She's been talking about having it dipped in camo with pink accents, so we'll probably do that...I think she just doesn't want me to take her rifle out anymore. :yike:
