Holey Moley Eastside!  I'd trade one no bird day for a day like that.   :chuckle:

Great morning with a good friend. Only had an hour to hunt. Dog was covered in ice and loving every minute of it. First time out this year.
What would life be without the thrill of the hunt?

Very nice Fowl.  We sat on the bay this morning for two and a half hours (19*) and only got one Bufflehead.

It was still a good day, took a guy from Seattle out with me for the ride.  He'd never been hunting before (I was the shooter).  It was a heck of a morning to break him in.   :chuckle:

It was by far the best hunt I've EVER been on, we had 5-7k birds in the field for 2 days, plus thousands of ducks(which it sounds like I missed the shoot of a lifetime last night),we had 1's and 2's for the first 15-20 minutes, than the sky opened up. 8 of us hunting, and 1 final wad, 1 1/2 hours of hunting done. The next picture I post is the field after we hunted, no way to know for sure, but if I were a gambler I would say 4-5K birdas easily, and this was 20 minutes after we shot! Sorry if I sound excited, but I was like a little kid yesterday.
Is it waterfowl season yet..............

I got my first White-winged Scoter yesterday.
What steel shot do you recommend for the crabs :chuckle:
An even better question is how far you led them?? :chuckle:

Heck, what kind of calls and decoys do they respond the best to?

The best decoy is the "gutted duck", somewhat of a challenge to give it a natural presentation, the proper scent is even tougher.   :chuckle:  For a call, you have to collect mud at a -6 tide on the third Saturday of a month with a blue moon.  It then needs to be formed into a whistle with the central note a B-flat, kiln fired for six hours and painted in a striped combination of chartreuse and hunter orange.  Now, don't tell anyone I've given you the secret crab call recipe, or extreme measures will have to be taken......    8)

Maybe we'd better stick to waterfowl pictures, it can't be that slow out there.   :chuckle:

Had a great goose hunt yesterday. Shot a 3 man limit. Set up a nice spread of about 50 decoys in the corn stubble. Geese started coming in and payed no attention to us and went straight for the winter wheat field. So, I got up and chased the geese in the winter wheat off then set our decoys out in the wheat, blinds on the edge in the corn, SUCCESS! Great hunt.
