Thanks guys.  Had a great time as always.  The only regret is I shot that buck on the first day within 20 minutes of daylight, so most of the rest of the hunt was spent packing meat down the trail for my buck and Dad's buck.

We were hunting Unit 23, and there is wolf sign in the area, but it seemed old and transient.  We're not certain that wolves are residing in the area, but more likely passing through.

There was a TON of pressure in there this year, though.  A lot of backpackers looking for "190-200 inch bucks" and elk hunters.  Deer opens on 10 Oct while elk opens on 15 Oct.  If you can get in there the week before you have much more quality hunting, although when the elk crowds arrive, more animals get pushed around.
If you don't stand behind the troops, please feel free to stand in front of us.

Unfortunately those wolves are resident, great bucks though. Congrats

Elevations ranged from 6800 to 7500, average.  There's a peak nearby that tops out at 8000.  Pretty high country.
