First VA deer this year
« on: October 25, 2014, 12:29:56 PM »
Smoked this small buck this morning at exactly sunrise.  16 yards, double lunged him, ran 40 yards and piled up.  They are just now starting to rub and scrape here.  Much better Saturday then last Saturday, but I think I over did it today.  Nice to be able to put some deer meat in the freezer in between hospital stays.  :)

As I found him.

Nice one, yea I say you double lunged him!

Your lingo is starting to sound like those back east TV Pro Hunters. :chuckle:

Tasty little thing you got there.     great shot

Is your bow like 42" from cam to cam or are their deer itty bitty in Virginia?

Boss .300 winmag   :chuckle:  Just starting to grow my mullet.   :chuckle:

They are ITTY BITTY.  I mean really small.  He was probably 80-85 pounds.  My bow is only 32 inches axle to axle.

Of course, he's still a fawn....   :chuckle:

:)  Even the "big" boys are little.  Saw a huge 7X7 with a drop tine the other day on Fort Belvoir where I work.  Might have gone 135 on the hoof.

I was just about to feel bad too, about you having only midgy-pop deer but since you can shoot 6...   :chuckle:

Easy drag

If I get all 6, it'll be like putting 2 WA or ID deer in the freezer.  :)

Well, pocket-deer or not, I am glad you aren't worse afflicted and that you can get out there and hunt.
