Desert Permit Filled
« on: October 25, 2014, 11:19:49 PM »
Had a great trip over to the Desert saw lots of deer and had great hunting weather. My Daughter in law had the permit and did a great job sneaking through the sage and spotting bucks. Will get the camera out and put up some pictures and her story the power has been out here and we just got home.

Okay I am back again what a great time in the desert. We hunted with our good friend Dick Hemore from over at the pot holes and he knows every deer by name that lives over there. He took us to a spot boardering a corn field and we waited for daylight that never seems to come when your hunting. He told my son and his wife to go out to a high sand hill and he would circle around and try to push some deer around to them I thought no way would that happen but this guy can.  Dick came back to the truck to say he heard them shoot and he had seen 9 shooter bucks one big for point with stickers all over he said we would go after that afternoon if they missed. My son called one the cell and said they saw several nice bucks but one at 800 yards they made a sneak on. They got close about 200 yards and she got a good rest in the sand and shot and the deer went to the right there were several other deer and 2 other bucks that came out of the draw but not the one they shot at and my boy said when she shot he said it sounded like she hit it but was;nt sure.  Tey looked around where he was for almost 2 hours finding nothing when Dick said I am going out to help look we will stay here all day if he thinks she hit the deer. When he got out there he went out farther than they were looking and said I am on his tracks. They went over there and they jumped him just past where he was when she shot so they figured he must be hit to stay there when all the others left. There was no blood so Dick took Heather and they followed the tracks and all of a sudden she saw the buck laying right in front of her and she said to Dick there he is right there he did;nt see it because he was on the other side of a bush when he came around he said that's a huge buck shoot and about then it jumped and started running and she got a running shot at about 100 yards we had her shooting all summer and a lot off hand and that payed off. Dick said I think she missed it but after another tracking job there it was dead in the trail she had double lunged it on the run. She was so excited she layed on the deer and cried it was her first big buck. We had a great time and a great dinner with Frank Dicks friend who lives at Mar Don. This is the third time we have been able to hunt the desert and the only advise I could pass along would be to call Dick. Sorry I missed you Jim hope you liked the fish.
