Lost or Stolen Savage Axis 270 in Pearrygin!
« on: October 27, 2014, 08:04:03 AM »
My son and I were hunting out in Pearrygin yesterday (10-26). When we went to load up and go home his rifle(with case) was nowhere to be found. Don't know if it grow legs and jump out of the truck or if someone thought they needed it more then us. I figured was a shot in the dark to post something! If anybody knows or heard anything please let me know. THANKS!

I'm new to this site. Do you know if there's anyway I can find his email address or a way to notify him in case he doesn't visit site?

Am I the only one that thinks it's kinda crappy that this guy and his son lose track of their rifle and automatically start claiming it was stolen.  :dunno:

I probably would too if I was sure of where I left it and that happened to be in the bed of a pickup truck.

@ turykeyfeather

I did state lost or stolen. The gun was in the case and never used on this trip. It was in the back of the bed of the truck with a canopy. When we got back to camp it was gone.

That's info you should have put in your first post. You should know better than to leave a firearm unattended in a vehicle though.

I agree with you, but I actual never left sight of my vehicle. I was field dress my son's deer about 160 yard from my truck. 3-4 trucks drove did not notice anything suspicious. We got back to camp and his gun was gone. thought maybe one of the trucks could have grabbed and dashed???

Wondering where the rifle was found?  I Haven't heard yet.

Back of a truck w/canopy is not leaving a gun unattended  :twocents:

A guy should be able to leave his gun in an open truck bed.

It would be interesting to hear the whole story. Was it lost, left on the side of the road, stolen?

Not much of a story.

Slope hunters father found the gun on the gravel road in Pearrygin. There was not a scratch or any kind of damage.  There was a couple things missing scope cover and some manuals. This gun was not used on this trip.  Was in the back of the truck.  I THINK no solid proof that someone (kid) took it. They open the case and somethings feel out. They probably second guess what they did and ditched it. That is the only thing that makes sense to me.

I think my son actually learned a better lesson when the gun was returned.  He actually was really surprised as I was but he made this comment , there actually are good people out there. I have to thank this website and members.  Pretty cool ending!

I also tried to hook slope hunter up with something but he insist all he wanted was to know the gun made it back to his owner. Thanks again slope Hunter.
