Wanted / pronghorn
« on: December 15, 2008, 04:33:21 PM »
I want to go to MT or WY in a bad way for pronghorn and / or Muleys in 09. Any reasonably sane people have room for another gun assuming I get drawn?

Anybody interested in planning something? MH? Sagedawg? Bighorns2Bushytails?

Let me know.

By the way Bighorns, your name is TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!!!

I definately will. I may get with you sooner. Had a good idea where to apply in WY but not Montana. Hope I can find someone who wants to do it.

Gutpile,

If you're going to put in for Region 7, buy the preference point.  Seems like the only way you can get drawn anymore.  I made the unwise move of not buying them when they implemented the point system and have yet to be drawn for a tag in that region.  If you do get drawn, you can now buy 2 doe tags OTC, strongly suggested.

Gutpile,

If you're going to put in for Region 7, buy the preference point.

Just keep in mind tha unit 7 is 90% private land, make sure you have access before spending the money and time. :twocents:

Totally agree.  Although when it comes to getting permission to hunt on some of the private lands it is easier to get access when Antelope are the target.  But....it is getting more and more difficult every year.  Put in for Region 7 and do some homework and buy some maps....doesn't take much and it'll be one of the more fun hunts you'll have.

There's quite a bit of BLM land south of Ekalaka and a buttload of Block Management Areas there as well.  Lots of ranchers will let you hunt does on their property I've found too.  I've been told there is a very reputable Outfitter out of Alzada that has access to a lot of territory, can't remember his name though, if you're interested.

If you fill the app out correctly you shouldn't have a problem.

Well I hoe your right.

I always thought the 404 unit was a tougher one to draw for Antalope. Not real tough but more like 3 points to have a good chance.

But who knows last year I drew the deer combo with 0 points so anything can happen. 8)

Huntnphool,

Are you referring to the combo tag?  If so, he's right, you can always draw with one I believe.
