Poachers suck
« on: October 27, 2014, 08:33:43 PM »
Found him this evening about 100 yds from my property, dumped off edge of road. I've really been enjoying watching the deer this year on my trail cam. Hope he wasn't one of "mine".

Weird thing was... I assumed when I noticed his horns missing, it was cut and dry... poacher. After inspecting closer, I saw the clean cut up his abdomin to his rib cage.

So, did they try to gut and found something nasty? Did they try to gut and got scared off? What were they thinking???? Any guesses?

Either way... it was only a couple days old at the most. He was taken out of season for sure. And yes, I contacted WDFW, not that anything will come of it.

This is the issue with WDFW.
When you report stuff like this to them they don't to much about it.
Instead they put more restrictions on us hunters  :bash:

That was my first thought. Figured a doe got hit, but the bullet hole solved that one.
Rediculous tho!!! Was not a big deer by any means

Road kill with horns around here don't last long. If you do hit a deer you should be able to try and salvage what you can if that was the case. I hate to see them just end up coyote bait.

Doesn't even look like a buck.  Never seen a set of horns cut off with that kind of cut to the top of the head. :dunno:  I say roadkill as well.

They could have split it open so the coyotes have easy access and it gets tore up faster

sometimes the WDFW will cut the antlers off bucks that have been road killed, just like that.
Looks like coyotes have already been at it as well.

the deer was drug for a goodly ways skidding it's head along the pavement grinding it flat like that.

the impact builds enough pressure it often splits the belly open as if it were cut open,  the "bullet hole" could be any number of objects impaling the deer as it was balled up in someones undercarriage.

the skull  was sanded off by the blacktop.
