cow permit question?
« on: October 28, 2014, 07:47:45 PM »
I was told since I drew a special cow permit for the early season I can't hunt the same unit for cows? :dunno: is this true? I checked my permit and I do not see anything stating this.  This is first special permit.  I want to hunt my same unit if possible since I don't know any other units.

What unit is your permit for and what unit are you talking about as your unit that you know??

Sorry, but your question is a little confusing to answer without a little more info.

That is a True spike unit during regular season?

Your permit for an antlerless animal has a start and end date on it, that is the only time it is valid.

Once past the end date on the permit, you are limited to the same general season requirements as every one else.

If you didn't get your cow during the early season, you are stuck with looking for a true spike.

You can hunt general as long as you only kill one elk, hunt any unit you want.

A permit has no bearing on your ability to hunt general seasons.

I confused 328 has cows and true spikes for late season..I realize my permit is expired.  But I want to hunt cows in the late season.  I was told since I drew the permit in early season I couldn't hunt cows in the late season regardless if open for cows

If the unit is open to any one with a tag, you can hunt it, having a permit has no bearing on other units or dates of general seasons, in short, you were told wrong. Good luck.

You were given erroneous information.  If you have an unnotched legal tag you can hunt.
