I haven't been squid jigging in years and never did very well when I went. Do the squid jigs with lights in them (green or a different color) work any better than regular jigs?

I find these small PSound squid hard to clean without opening them up, but then I love deepfried shrimp more than any other way.

I saw a guy with a red flashing one fill a bucket while the rest of us just got one here and there.  He then sold the jig to someone and went home.  The problem I have seen with the storebought blinking ones is that the pins are too short and fat to catch the squid as well as the homemade ones that the Asians sell.   :twocents:

I’ve stuffed them with pork sausage and baked them. They turned out well, but just remember that sausage expands as it cooks, so don’t stuff the whole body. Otherwise it starts to come out of the bottom and the whole thing looks a bit unseemly.  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

been along time but i had a friend from Boston over and he cooked some seasoned burger and mixed it with his own mushroom sauce, stuffed the squid, folded the end and used a toothpick to keep it closed. Then he coated it with his own concoction and deep fried it. Extremely good. secret family recipes he said so i couldn't get it out of him.

I hope to try my first year trying for squid. Me and the family are headed out Monday, I'll let you know how I do. Thanks for all the tips.

After dark, the best time is about 2 hours before high tide.
