Mossberg Silver Reserve 12 gauge Field O/U
« on: October 29, 2014, 09:40:16 AM »
Curious if anyone has a Mossberg Silver Reserve? My buddy had one at his gun shop and he gave me a deal I couldn't walk away from. I bought it...it looks like a decent gun for the money. I know it's not a Krieghoff and I'm good with that. Anything I need to look out for?
It's a Field model, 28" tubes with chokes, 12 gauge.
Thanks

The big question on a lot of O/U and S/S shottys is whether they can handle steel shot.  I'm not sure about the Mossbergs, they likely will but you might want to check first.  Otherwise you're left with the Hevishot loads that cost a fortune since you can't legally shoot lead shot for waterfowl anywhere or for Upland on most public land.

Have fun with it!  I've been shooting O/U and S/S for years and never miss having that third shot, two different chokes more than makes up for it...

My brother has the over under silver reserve and its been fine for him, he hasnt had any issues in the 3 years hes owned his. i have the  side by side mossberg silver reserve and ive had no issues in the 2 years ive had it. I dont have the funds for a high end gun and these definetly fit in my price range.
