I met jonni thru this site she was asking for some info.after finding out she has never killed an elk and had a clockum cow tag me and my little sister jumped at the chance to help.we arrived friday morning and headed up the hill.an hour into the hunt we found elk.four huge bulls a few spikes and a bunch of cows.not being sure if they were in the unit we decided to pass.back to camp.this morning we headed back up the hill.little sister and I decided to be the goats and do a huge circle atabout 9:17 bang we knew it was her.we headed back up and it was her a 350 yard shot cow down.we got the cow off the hill cut it up and done.I can honestly say I have never met someone so excited and so involved with not only hard work but interested in people and there stories more then her. And man can she hike.until next time.thank you jonni for letting me share this with you.

Very nice congrats

Good for you Jason.  Jonni is a good friend and neighbor of mine.  She has wanted to get an elk for a long time.  I'm glad that you were able to help her fulfill her dream.   I hope she let you get a few words in edgewise.  She's quite a talker.

Right on...  I will be hearing of this adventure for many years to come.  Once again, good for you for helping her out.   I know she is very appreciative and thankful

This is my story of my 1st elk. For 6 years I have hunted NE,SE clockum, liberty! Not one chance at a shot or elk, just at a far distance. I learned to reload and shoot from my dear friend whose daughter who is a us Jr champion who I sponsored. Move 28th i me & and my son in law hiked up, up, up. Seen tracks but couldn't see where they were coming from or where they were going. We went back to camp around 1:00 by 2:00 a gal put her cow down across the canyon. Thursday back up the hill. I wanted to know where they were going so we hiked what I thought be a good root but it wasn't. No tracks going down! Hum! So up to the top thru the pouring rain, fog. I knew then where they were going. Friday Am waited for Jason and his sister, by afternoon back up that hill again. We were on the animals but they ran to the other side so I was sent to see if I could get on them, but when I got to the other side a huge bull laying below a hill laying, chewing his cud like he was on vacation. What a huge boy! I almost forgot why I was there thinking I may miss my chance for a cow! So I catch up with the others, not sure of the boundary I wasn't going to shoot at the group's which we catch up with. Next morning we all headed up that hill for the 6  time omg! Jason and sister headed south I headed below near that draw thinking something was going to happen. Indeed it did! Across the draw two cows with calves run on the opposite side but say a guy and headed down, I kept asking my partner where are they, all of a sudden up towards the power lines. So I put my 350yard dot on the first one but she was moving and I've never shot a moving target! Then the 2 and cow stopped so I shoot her shoulder chambered anther, shoot again her shoulder! No way why wasn't she going down so I shot her back leg thinking how hard it will be to drag her out. Down she went! I stood up and said Yes! I got my elk!! As we walked over I realize I had no more ammo I took my partner if she's not dead she's going to kick your butt, he assured me she was dead. A very nice guy and his son, nephew and friend. He started to help me get her cleaned out! Can't remember his name? He told me I needed a brake, I guess I was shaking, freaking out! Realizing the shot I made? In return I gave them the liver. Thank you so much who ever you are, hope I can return the favor. Jason and Derek drug that cow all the way back to camp 1 1\2 hours later. Thank you Everyone for all the help!! Till next time happy and safe hunting!! :IBCOOL:
