Packwood hunting is sad. what happened?
« on: November 01, 2014, 05:57:13 PM »
So I was hunting the packwood unit and was watching people chasing elk out of the the little spur roads where it says no shooting zone up to the shooting zone, and than out of town we found a nice small heard walking a field on private property, and saw 2 hunters take off there orange and run after the elk to try to get them back on public land. What happend to fare chase and the sport of hunting  :dunno: >:(

They need to start logging again IMO.

Always been idiots and I expect there always will be idiots!  I know for me I'm just more observant one year over the next, I think.

They are all "My" elk or "Our" elk if you read a few threads on here over the years.  And land owners, especially if they appear rich, have no right to keep me from "My" elk!  So I'm entitled to do whatever it takes to get my elk, don't you think? :bash:

Luckily, though the idiots may be more visible at times, the good ethical hunters out number the bad by a good margin...Well, on most days anyway!  Take a walk through Downtown Seattle.  I never remember the nice people going about there day, being polite and not making a scene.  All I remember are the half dozen tweakers asking for "gas" money ;) or "bus fare" ;) ;)  and the punks running out of the stores with stolen merchandise.  We are surrounded by entitlement idiots every single day.  Just some days they pee us off more than others! :twocents:

I expect the Weyco pass has a little something to do with that as well.  Now the idiots are more concentrated than ever before :dunno:
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Last late archery season (Winston) I drove through the Packwood area and called the cops on a couple of idiots trying to sneak up on some cow elk.  As I drove by, they dropped in the grass   :o  One of the guys was at the truck and told me they had a flat tire.  They didn't.  He said he already had the tow truck on the way.

I drove to the top of a hill and watched them.  They pushed the elk farther into the field and ducked down every time there was a car driving by.  I called the state patrol who showed up in about five minutes.  The guy in the truck tried to play it cool while the other two took off for the tree line.

Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

This morning I had a 5x5 dead to rights at 40 yards, but he was on the wrong side of a fence by about 20 yards. I hung out and watched him for a little bit. He appeared to know he was safe And was not in any hurry to move. Could have taken the shot, but it would have been wrong. I hope to see him on the right side of the fence another day.
