388 rut tag filled
« on: November 02, 2014, 09:20:21 AM »
Well it took one day. Saw some deer and finally found one my buddy wanted to shoot. Made a great one shot kill which allowed us to watch the deer fall within site.  Hope we did the tag justice. Great fun with good friend. Thanks to everyone who responded. Deer are definitely start to push does but in area we were the smaller bucks were mostly with does.  Saw one big buck with does. Rest of the nicer bucks we saw were by themselves.

Congrats on pulling the tag! I wish I had a honey hole to share with you. I have spent some time around grayback mt. Seen some good bucks but have always wanted to hunt deer during the rut there. How many points did you have?

I've only hunted the unit during turkey season so I'm not much help. I do like the gray back mountain area though. Also some good looking areas along the highway at three creeks and around brooks state park.

Ya the mt is a good place. Will see tom. Looks like good weather as long as fog holds out. Little snow would be nice.

Nice buck, looks similar to the one in Bone's "a nice three" thread.
