Madi's 6x7 bull
« on: November 02, 2014, 10:02:17 PM »
My daughter(Browning Girl) tagged this nice bull today thanks to a number of great people who provided info, support and access. Opening day November 1st started with a herd bull bugling and chasing cows. We closed the distance and got into them. She passed on a young branch bull at 40 yards broadside and the big bull escaped in the thick brush. With many leads to follow we headed to higher ground where I had seen 2 herds of elk the previous week. Higher the visibility was limited by fog and snow/sleet. My wife and daughter were excited to experience the change of scenery. Several hikes revealed nothing. About 4:30 I spotted a good bull with some cows in a spot we couldn't reach by dark so we headed for home planning to hunt the first spot at daylight then move to this bull mid-day. Day two showed no elk at first but a hunt in the timber got us into the same herd as the day before. As the cows milled in confusion caused by my calls the herd bull emerged. Madi's shot was true and the 6x7 was down. With the help of a great friend we made short work of the pack and stopped to say hi to new found friends. Thanks to all of you who helped us on this hunt. We appreciate all the info and support. To answer questions yes this was a special permit hunt. We will do a Euro mount of this bull to go with her Youth hunt bull from 4 years ago. I added a pic of her other permit bull.

Awesome bull!  And nice buckmark there.  Do they still do the contest to send photos in?  That would be a great one.

Well done.  Passed on a smaller bull to hold out for the big one.  Not many folks can do that (myself included!)

so you saying she drew the youth elk permit 2 times? If so, my son had 5 points and now he already turn 16. All of his 5 pts gone. Just thought if WDFW will give out the more choices for youth elk. They could give 1 or 2 permits for each units so all youth hunters get a chance before they turn 16.

No she drew the youth permit 4 years ago with 5 points and drew this permit in the regular draw. She is very lucky.

Tell her congrats. She have many more years to come. I am hoping my daughter will get a draw in youth elk hunt before she turn 16. Shes 14 now. Of course my son just turn 16 early this year wasn't too happy he didn't drew one. He was hoping to draw for mudflow bull.
