Ouch's trapping season
« on: November 02, 2014, 10:19:49 PM »
Really liking the way season is starting out this year!
First check this morning and I got a small sized one and my biggest ever at 56 lbs that might be a super blanket! It had gotten in one of my traps and actually pushed it apart and got out but he went downstream about 75 yards and got into another of my traps and didnt make it out of that one!

I plan to cook some tomorrow. I soaked it in water first for a day to get some of the blood out.
Its pretty good if you butcher it and cook it right. If you spill some of the glands on it though its not worth eating. That taste gets into every part of the meat and you literally have to use it as bait only. Last year my dad took steaks and cubed, floured and fried it and it was awesome!

If I remember right I believe it seemed kinda similar to a slightly gamey tasting deer. Plenty edible!
