300wm and never look back PS 243 is perfect for eastside deer!
I have found prestige condition Ruger M77 in 7mm Rem mag with magna-port barrel. And I don't really sure if I need it. I have a experience with couple of calibers but I'm not satisfy with some of them or I have no use for them anymore. So that a list what I use to have or still have it and my experience with it. 30-30 win nice deer rifle for west side and unsuitable for east side, high hunt (mule deer).243 win good rifle for west but terrible on east or high deer hunt.308 win great deer rifle but too small for elk. 4 year ago I was hunting in Rochester WA for Roosevelt elk. I shot nice fat cow from 80 yards away. Bullet go through rib cage on right side leavening almost no damage to right lung go in left lung leavening 2 inch rip in it and stock between ribs on left side. No kill shot couple hours of tracking was involve to get 400 pounds of meat to our freezers. 375 Ruger supper elk rifle I use in Sandpoint Idaho for elk. But I see no use for it in WA for it. 1 shot 1 kill from 275 yard it knock nice bull on his side. No screaming, tracking it was clean shot and bullet was not recovered.Sorry for mistakes, English my second language.Sincerely,
7mm Remington Mag is fine. Not sure I'd want the magna ported barrel though, as it will be louder.

My guess is wrong bullet choice or an anomaly.
