Vehicle maintenance @ 30,000 miles

Looks like the stars have aligned and I hit a 30,000 mile interval for both vehicles. So I should  skip my upcoming hunts and just work on my vehicles all weekend... or not   

Already done the oil changes... Here is a list of what I'm planning to do for both:

• Air filters
• Trannie drain and fill
• Spark plugs (non iridium/platinum)
• brake fluid
• power steering fluid
• radiator flush
• (added to list): differential and transfer case drain and fill

Am I throwing money away by doing all this every 30,000? FWIW summer road temps in my parts hit 110-115.

At a minimum you should do it and document it so if you have a issue under warranty, you can't be told the warranty is void due to lack of scheduled maintenance.

Good reminders, thanks. but i'm long past any warranty period and buy all my cars used.

If you do full service like that every 30k on toyotas of all things, they are going to last forever. I'd keep at it.

Yeah i do--I just get tired of it. next time on one of the vehicles will be 300,000 miles

At that point I would do it just to see how far I could keep the vehicles goin. But that's just me.

Ok engine and tranny oils done, and onto differentials and Xfer case next. I did those 30,000 miles ago and with synthetic 75w90. IIRC the front diffs in both vehicles call for straight SAE 80 in the front and transfer case, and SAE 90 in the rear diff. I put in synthetic so I'm wondering if I can ride this out to 50,000 since I don't do any towing and what little 4x4 I do is just driving on USFS roads.

I know I should probably use the oil they ask for, but I am hoping that synthetic makes up for the small difference--does it? Or as Secretary Clinton would ask: what difference does it make?

If they are lighter toyota pickups or 4 runners I think whatever you use is fine. If you not wheeling you rig or putting undo stess on them by romping on them then i think your OK. Heat is the enemy so What you doing must be working!

My boss has a Toyota tacoma it has just over 600k miles I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it with my own eyes he does the least amount of maintenance possible he has done rear riffs front diff tranny and a few fan belts but they are not done on a regular basis and he uses conventional oil and does his oil change around 10k miles I know Toyota is an awesome rig but I think he is lucky sounds like yours will last forever if u stick to that maintenance schedule
