Who hunts the Snoqualmie tree farm??
« on: March 11, 2011, 10:11:27 AM »
I'm just curious to see how many people actually hunt the snoqualmie tree farm for deer. It's my first year getting the pass and I've beens scouting it since jan. 2. I'm not sure if i'm going to actually hunt there during deer season but think it will be a great back up plan thats close to home. I'm just kind of curious about the numbers of hunters. Also Rifle or Bow?

Thank you for the info. I have a bow tag but hoping I get drawn for the multi season tag. :chuckle:

Grundy,

I'm in Duvall and bought the permit for the first time.  Would love to get together and talk about how the roads work out.  I've got a 4x4 sub and I'm working on a fishing boat for Hancock/Calligan.

I cut my teeth hunting blacktail deer in this area in the late 1960's to late 1970's. compared to today, it was awesome success on big bucks for my father and I.
Back when Weyerhauser first started charging access, I quit hunting the area, motorized anyways. Main focus shifted to east side muleys.

2012 finds my vehicle with the Hancock access sticker on the windshield. got it mainly for archery seasons.
with the charging this year of $75 for any hiking, biking or horse access on Hancock Snoqualmie land ; I bit the bullet for motorized access.

lots of deer, bear in the entire area. But you will need to put in your time and scout. They're not just everywhere in there.

I actually ended up getting my buck in there this year  :IBCOOL:. This year I bought the Snoqualmie pass again but I also bought the kapowsin pass. So now I have to learn that area. Heading there tomorrow to get started.

Know a guy that hunts Hancock religiously but has only ended up with spikes to show for all his effort.

I haven't been impressed with the deer numbers at Snoqualmie but there a lot of bears and you can hunt elk. Elk are not in great numbers either.  :twocents:

Any success this season? Do you still go into the Snoqualmie tree farm? I used to hunt Kapowsin for years, and that place had always been excellent.

This was my first year in Snoqualmie, and while I've seen a ton of game in there (lots of deer and bear), I haven't seen one branch antlered buck all year. Just one spike and a bunch of button knobs. I saw 59 deer this modern season over 6 days and not a single buck which was a little discouraging.. granted that is the way of the elusive blacktail.
