Swakane doe permit
« on: November 06, 2014, 11:50:19 PM »
Hey so I drew a doe permit for the Swakane unit and am not really sure where to go. I have family coming from out of town during the season so my dad who is more knowledgeable than I am will not be able to go with me. I have never been to this area and will have no chance to look around and scout before the season. I'm just an 18 year old kid so if any one could point me in the direction of access to the national forest or any other legal hunting area that would be much appreciated. Not after a trophy buck just some meat for the freezer, thanks for your time.

You should have no problem young man. Your biggest problem will be not shooting the biggest bucks you have ever seen if your life. Have fun and take a good camera with you.

I used to go up there all the time, looking for coyotes.  Used to see a lot of deer off the first switchback on the walk up the Rattlesnake Springs Road.  look across the canyon to the east.  all the downed trees they used to bed down around have burned up, but there are still lots of trails visible there... Good luck.  Nice part about that area is it's all downhill to the main road!
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Though I didn't see a ton of big bucks....I did see a lot of deer two days ago while up there, 100 give or take in just half the day.   Finding a doe should be really easy.

Truck was not cut out for the snow, almost slid down a hill or two. Only got one afternoon hunt in and decided to bag it and just try the late season back home for Christmas break. Wasn't the way I planned it but it was still fun!

Weather was terrible for sure, the roads were really bad, good idea to just bag it.  Things got way worse as the season progressed.  Everyone I saw other than me and my buddy were chained up.  We had chains just didn't end up using them.
