controlled hunts/special permits
« on: November 22, 2014, 03:39:05 PM »
So a buddy an I are ready to start applying for multiple states for modern firearm.  Can any of you guys explain the process. I have been looking at the regs for different states but its tough to comprehend.
Just as an example can some body just give me a total price for Idaho deer controlled hunt. Also the price I would loose if I don't draw. I will not be hunting their general season. This way I can check what I came up with to see if I'm understanding properly.
Thx

To apply in ID you have to buy a nonrefundable hunting license it's around $150 and then it cost something like $15 more to apply.  So you lose around $165 if you don't draw.

If you want to start applying in a lot of states buy a year subscription of eastmans hunting and bow hunting journal or the huntin fool.  They walk you through how to apply in each state.

Spend $2 on the PointHunter app and it will remind you to apply in many states.  You get to choose.  And it looks up your points.  Really simple and a very effective hunting tool.

PointHunter may be the best hunting app.

2. Be the first to know your draw results
3. Access to your points: anytime, anywhere.

This.

I had been a subscriber to eastmans for a long time and their MRS section is valuable but their magazine is junk anymore. Huntin fool is where it's at

Very good info in Huntinfool (I look forward to my magazine every month!) Additionally, if you have any questions in my experience they have been great to talk with.

I have subscribed to Eastmans magazines for years and have been very happy with their stuff. I subscribe to both copies too. I'm curious where they have become so bad that a person shouldn't be able to benefit from the information.
