Been to SE Alaska on 2 different spring bear hunts and came home empty handed both times. A combo of bad timing and bad shooting, LOL

Well I finally got my first bear here on October 12th while chasing the mulies. While still hunting this ridge this 5 footer walked right out in front of me at 23 yards. I think we both soiled ourselves a little! She didn't go 15 yards before I heard her death ball. A pretty crazy and eerie sound! Not a big bear but I am very happy with her!

For what its worth the taxi said its the best coat he has seen on a general deer season bear in his 18 years doing his trade! Said its better then most spring bears he sees. Very thick and long. Its going to be a great rug.

Just got the rug back! Super happy with how it turned out! Now I just have to find a spot to hang it on! Notice the picture with my hands in it just to show how thick and full the whole hide was. Super nice!

That fireball pic was not staged. Didn't notice it until I looked at the pics. Turned out pretty good though. LOL

Looks like the bear may have shredded the neck on the buck  :yike:. Great picture nice buck and bear for sure. A 5 foot bear a good bear for around here. Nice job. Cool that the rug should come out so good. Was she fat? My cousin shot one that was super fat.....inches of fat on the back.

That's a nice looking bear. I like the white spot on the chest.
