Ram Experts?

Looks good to me, but I know nothing about them.
Matter of fact, this weekend I spotted a couple and asked, "are they big ones" completely sounding like the greenhorn I am.  Then I was told they were the shooters we were looking.

LOL, that's how I would be.   I would guess this one has more length than average, but less mass.

My uneducated guess says he's long because he still has his lamb tips. Not broomed off yet, young and destined to be a big ram if he survives.

I guess the question would be, is he good one for score? I prefer the looks of a ram that has more curl and hasn't been broomed way back even though the "score" isn't high. Just me though...

Id say he doesn't score well because he's young and doesn't carry his mass very well .....

Lamb tips are the tips that haven't been broomed, this is a younger ram, doesn't carry his mass throughout the horn, he has potential though, is he a shooter, for some guys yes, other guys probably not.  California bighorns typically broom and finding an old ram with lamb tips is pretty rare.  My ram was 6.5 years old, had broomed on one side but not on the other.

He's definitely one to watch. Not a good angle but.it looks like his curl is just breaking the bottom jaw. I like length of the curl personally. Give him a couple of years and he'll be a stud!

That ram is probably 4.5 yrs old. His bases are about 13.5" and 1st quarter measurement is about 12.75" then he really peters out. With his legnth he might go 150-152. Definitely not a shooter.  But has the potential to be a good ram in another 3+ yrs. jmho
