Good grinder for Deer and Elk?

Looking for some recommendations on a good quality meat grinder. I hear Cabelas makes good ones. What size and HP would be recommended?

I have the cabelas professional model. Has been good for what I do but want to move up to the 1/2-3/4 model. I will look for bargain price and use points but periodically a good deal to be had

I have one of these.  Ground my deer twice with it in about 1/2 hour.  Works great.  Ez to clean.  Read the reviews.  Unless you have a LOT of game to grind every year, it's a good one for the money.

I have a warningpro mg100-3. Had it for 7 years and it's still running strong. Not only have I ground my own deer and elk but helped others grind deer elk and bear burger up and it's been great.

Second on the cabelas 3/4 horse.
Can grind all the trimmings off an elk in about 35 minutes.
Do your self a favor and get it. You will not regret it.
I would not part with mine for anything!

Do you have a KitchenAid mixer?  Not the best solution, but they grind up many an animal every year for a grand total of $29.99.

I have the Cabela's 1/2 HP model and have nothing but good things to say about it as well.  I have had it for about 4-5 years now.  If you can, wait until around Christmas time when they have them on sale then try to find a coupon to add to it. That's what I did and got it real cheap.  I found it on sale and had a $40 off coupon, added with a couple gift cards I had gotten for a gift.  I paid under $200 of my personal cash for it.

I have a 3/4 HP Cabelas that I picked up in the Bargain Cave for $280. I'm pretty sure it was brand new with a  damaged box. I don't think I would pay what they're asking for them now--prices have steadily risen with the cost of steel and what not. I would probably just pay a butcher until I found a good deal. Happy with what I paid but processing meat takes up vacation time.

I have the kitchenaid attachment and will say that I'D rather used a hand grinder. That thing is not designed to grind more than one meal worth.

Had a friend  over tonight for a sausage making evening. He had a New 1 HP cabelas grinder. I have the "professional" model  (thats a joke right there). We had 32 lbs of pork butt. I kid you not it was about 5 minutes total for 2 grinds.........HOLY CRAP....... That is on my list now for sure.
Not sure how the 1/2 or 3/4 compare, but the 1 HP is DA BOMB

I would buy whatever you can find on sale or at a comfortable price point. If I my house burns down tomorrow and I see a 1/2HP model on sale, I wouldn't necessarily rush out and pay full price for the 3/4.

We have a Hobart & the biggest cabelas version,1-3/4 ?

The cable as has broken twice but I think it was by design and pretty easily fixed, the reverse is awesome to have as it will get "jammed" up if loaded full of tough meat an started...throtell size is bigger on the cabelas aswell making it faster..and the attachments are pretty handy

I hear ya bean. I wouldn't pay full price either, but a couple times per year they seem to have a pretty good sale. I picked up their nice sealer a few years ago during a sale, used some points and a coupon and pretty soon it's dang near free. haha
