673 williams creek
« on: November 08, 2014, 09:23:49 PM »
Anybody doing any good there?  Been looking for a cow down there.  Only cows I saw today were on private land. Almost tagged a nice bull on way out with my f350 and saw a stud of a blacktail.  Got one more day next week to fill the cow tag.  Where are the cows hiding?

You should have no problem tagging a cow in Williams creek.  There is elk all over.

I have hunted that a lot,  but not for a couple years so I don't know what is permit,  what is gated etc...    I do know that a lot of elk do not go very far off the roads in there but rather just far enough that you can't see them.

A good place to start the day is right there in south bend.  There is a road just past the catamaran yacht builder that takes you into the woods,  when you get to the top of the hill there is a gate off to the right that consistently has garbage in front of it and elk behind it and a gate directly across the road that is a nice easy walk that has shown me elk about 70% of the time.

Is a Weyerhaeuser pass needed?

Not for Williams Creek. But you might need a Rayonier pass, unless you're hunting state land.

Lots of Hancock, Campbell, DNR and other lands you can hunt.  They don't charge yet so be respectful.

Got the cow yesterday.  But left my backpack with all my knives and saws.  If anyone lives near the palix river area I'll give ya directions.  Might as well be a member that takes over ownership.  Nice camo pack.  5 good bloody knives.  Not sure what else might be in it.
