anyone hunt issaquah?
« on: December 08, 2014, 06:55:45 PM »
I have permission to hunt San Juan islands and I'm gonna go stay there the last couple of days after Christmas to try and fill my tag but I was wondering how issaquah hunting is? I haven't scouted and only looked at harvest reports. The reason I'm thinking about going there even if I haven't scouted or know the area is because I'm on Christmas break from school and San Juan islands is a little too far for me to go there more than once but I could manage to go to issaquah daily. Just seeing how it is and seeing if it's even worth to try and get lucky by walking some trails. Figured hunting more days gives me a better chance to fill my tag. Any feedback is helpfuk

I picked up a hell set of sheds out of Northbend and have seen some monsters there.  I think its hancock now though. (not sure if that's in your open area either???)

It'll take two or three island deer to get you the meat a stud BT out of unit 460 would give up, but unless you have a Hancock Snoqualmie pass the odds of killing are five times better on the islands.  And since you're asking, I'm betting you don't have a pass.  So... go to the islands.
Just my opinion, worth what you paid for it.

If you are talking the Issaquah unit 454, there are numerous places off hwy 18 where you can walk in.  The East side gate just south of the bridge over the Raging rvr would be a decent place to start.  Have seen more than a few deer in there in previous yrs.  Goodluck

Yeah off hwy 18 is what I've been looking at. Its public access and I walk in and just go hiking. The harvest reports looks solid but I don't know how much I should rely on that
