Successful duck hunt on a bluebird day
« on: November 14, 2014, 11:04:21 AM »
My buddy and I got to our hunting spot at 10:00 am and talked to two other guys that were leaving, they said that the birds were flying high and would not come in but that there was no one else duck hunting that area right now.
We break ice and set our decoys and in the first group of ducks that comes in we have them with wings cupped and gliding in, I dropped two gadwall and my buddy dropped one.
My buddy ended up dropping four teal with three shots and it made the dog confused on what one to retrieve first.

lol.... great hunt!
I love it when you can set up and slay 'em, and the guys that just left were all like, "This place sucks"
lol.......   great tip too on the breaking of ice. It works wonders.
Stan Marsh: "My Uncle Jimbo says we gotta get up there early. Right Uncle Jimbo?"

Jimbo: "That's right, Stanley. Animals are much easier to shoot in the morning."

ya its best to break as much as you can and then try to push it down wind. The birds will come in lower to check out the open water.

Nicely done.

Hunted Ridgefield refuge today. Had the #1 pick finally.
Hunted blind 17.
it was cold. Broke ice.
Limited 14 ducks by 1130. Mostly shovelors, and 1 mallard.
Fun morning in the blind.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!

Congrats to a great day out. I also had some good luck today. Bluebird till about noon when the wind came up. One short of a limit but a good day none the less. Wind died down some about quitting time sot it made for a safe ride back across Nisqually.
