Sunday fun-day
« on: November 16, 2014, 12:41:37 PM »
Set 22 rat traps yesterday and got 16 rats today. One quad in a folding colony. Pretty happy about that.

On kinda a Sunday tid-bit; we are pretty fortunate to be able to go out and do one of the hobbies we love. I have many friends that love to get pictures of the trapline and enjoy trapping vicariously without having to be out in the cold and wet parts. I just want to say thanks to all you post thier traplines on HW for all to see. It is a fun way for people to "tag along".

God bless
Jordan

For the most part it was open water. The ponds and canals I had to break through ice but the creeks have all stayed open so far...

Got an otter yesterday. Not the tradition way. We saw him swimming and he went into a colvert to hide. Set a trap on one end and flushed he into the trap. Pretty fun on thanksgiving. My little brother was happy as can be.

River otter trapping season is closed in all Eastern Washington counties, except in Chelan, Ferry, Klickitat, Kittitas, Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens, and Yakima counties, as well as in the Snake and Walla Walla River drainages. The season bag limit is 12 river otter in the portions of Eastern Washington that are open to trapping

congrats eburgtrapper.

Most of the rats caught in North America have been going to South Korea the last few years. They are using them for fur lined coats.
If you haven't seen muskrat fur it is some of the nicest fur there is. I think much better then mink but not as durable as mink. Softer then mink for sure.

Taking a little break from the rat line. The ice has been getting awfully thick in some places. Sending so furs off so we though we would do an "end of the line" part 1 picture.
