Blackie down
« on: November 17, 2014, 06:06:33 AM »
I took a snow (ice) day on Friday. Put my daughter down for a nap and ran up on the hill for a quick late hunt. I told my wife that I planned on spotting a little buck to fill my tag. Well it wasn't long and I put a small forky in my binos. He was chasing a doe so I knew I could close the distance as he was gonna be pre-occupied.
As I was closing the distance I kicked a different doe out. She was only 40-50 yards in front of me. I thought it was all over until I put my binos on her. She didn't seem to mind me, then I caught movement on the other side of her. I swear this buck came out of a hole in the ground! I panned this little clear cut 8 times before I seen a deer!
Well, after about 5 minutes of heart thumping excitement, the Doe started feeding from right to left and the buck was in tow.
I dumped him at 20yds. It was a great day to be in the woods on Friday afternoon! There ended up being 3 doe's and 2 bucks in that little clear cut!
