AR-15 (.223)
« on: November 17, 2014, 11:34:46 AM »
Looking for some feedback here. I just bought a Ruger SR556VT (.223) AR-15. The barrel as a 1:8 Twist. I'm curious what grain bullet most of you shooters are using for target shooting, as well at predator hunting. Again, any advice would be much appreciate.

Thanks again!

Are you still shooting good groups at 300 yards with 77 grain?

yeah, it does ok

this particular rifle was built to handle 77 grain pills.

Would like to run MK262s out of it, but even with a Wylde chamber, they are a bit too hot.

Hey with a 1/8 twist don't be afraid to try Fioochi Extrema hunting 50 grain Vmax, they come in 200 round cans for really reasonable. They shoot excellent in my AR with a 1/8 twist Jp enterprises barrell.1/2 in groups at 200 meters. They come in 50 count boxes as well.I've got a bolt gun that loves them too.

The 8 twist will shoot pretty much every factory offering just fine.

My Ar didn't like the Federal  AR.223 ballistic tip ammo, big groups 3" at 200 meters Hammer, the Savage bolt gun likes em though,it's a 1/9 twister

The 8 twist will shoot pretty much every factory offering just fine.

My RRA 1/8 Wylde loves HSM 77gr MatchKing loads.
I would really like to get ahold of some MK262 to run through it.
